Question: Which is the perfect twin stroller for us?twin stroller

Answer: There is no such thing as the perfect twin stroller. You have to ask yourself what you nee the stroller for, traveling, going for walks, jogging? When you know your needs it is easier to choose the best twin stroller.

Question: Which twin stroller tyes are available?

Answer: There are umbrella type twin strollers, twin joggers, multifunctional twin strollers, tandem strollers and bike strollers/trailers.

  • The Umbrella twin stroller is a side by side stroller that has small plastic oder rubber wheels, doesn’t weight too much and folds up small.
  • The twin jogger has usually three bigger (12 – 16 “) air inflated wheels, The front wheel can be fixed, which makes it easier to handle rough ground. Joggers are heavier than umbrella strollers, but that is the price you have to pay for a sturdy versatile troller
  • tandem twin strollers have the seats one behind the other. They are as wide as single strollers but longer. You will get through any door, but elevators can be a problem. Tandem strollers are harder to navigate than the more compact side by side strollers but if you need a narrow stroller, a tandem is for you
  • twin travel systems are frames that allow you to snap in infant car seats. Usually the have the disadvantage that once your babies outgrow their infant seats you can’t use them anymore. But there is always Ebay, right?
  • Multifunctional Twin Strollers accomodate infants either in their car seats or in infant seats and convert later on into a sport stroller
  • Bike twin strollers or trailers are great for older twins. They are bike trailers that convert in strollers by adding a handle. They have big wheels and can handle basically any kind of ground. On the downside is their size, you need a truck to transport them.

Question: should I get a stroller with reversible seats (or handle?).

Answer: There is no wright or wrong answer to this question. When I bought the first of a total of five twin strollers I absolutely wanted to have one which allowed to change the position of the seats. I changed the seats about two times, than they stayed as they were. It simply dind’nt really matter. And it wasn’t worth the hassle. So for me it was not worth the extra money. But for you it might be.

Question: I live in the country, which twin stroller should i buy?

Answer: You probably won’t be happy with an umbrella kind of stroller, the wheels are too small to handle rough ground. The rule of thumb: the bigger the wheels the better it will negotiate bad pavement, a trip to the football field, a walkt through the woods, you get the idea.

Question: I need a stroller for trips to the mall, which twin stroller is right for me?

Answer: You need a stroller that maneuvres well, is not too heavy and not too wide. Look for a stroller that fits through standard sized doors and turns on a dime. But keep in mind taht is still might be difficult no navigate a double stroller between clothes racks, especially in smaller shops.

Question: Which twin stroller should I buy if I have to travel a lot?

Answer: You need a stroller that folds easily and isn’t too bulky when foldet up. You also want a lightweight twin stroller, taht won’t barke your back every time you have to haul it in the trunk of your car. You are probably best off with an umbrella type twin stroller

Question: How important are cupholders and snacktrays etc.?

Answer: While they are useful accessories, they won’t make you happy when the stroller they are attached to is crappy. If you fancy a twin stroller that doesn’t have them inlcuded, just buy them separately. Don’t let them influence your decision too much!

Question: Do I have to buy my twin stroller  of the same brand as my baby car seats?

Answer: Not neccesarily.  Twin strollers that allow baby seats to be snapped in usually go with a variety of brands. Just check the description of the stroller carefully if your seats will fit.  Some strollers can accomodate just ONE car seat though!

Question: which twin stroller should I buy for infant twins?

Answer: You have the possibility to buy a stroller that allows you to strip in the car seats. Take into consideration that most infants spend too much time in infant carrier seats. It is not good for their spine and head. Opt for a stroller that either reclines totally and get some additional padding for head and body. Or get a stroller that comes with cots for the first monthts. Remember that you never should jog with infants!
